Nanhai No. 1 Museum, also known as the Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum, is located on the "Shili Yintan" in Hailing Island Experimental Development Zone, Yangjiang City, Guangdong. The building can be called an iconic building not only in the country, but also in the world. It is mainly composed of "one museum and two centers" (Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum, Maritime Silk Road Science Research Center and R&D Center), with exhibition hall, crystal palace, collection warehouse and other facilities. The museum is a thematic museum featuring the protection, development and research of the ancient shipwrecks of the Song Dynasty in the South China Sea No. 1, showing the characteristics of hydrological relics and the dynamic demonstration process of underwater archaeological site excavation.

The Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum has distinctive architectural features, unique design creativity, and a theme that closely follows the sea, reflecting the soft combination of marine culture and southern architectural styles. The façade is composed of five ellipsoids of different sizes interlocked, and the whole looks like a undulating wave and a seagull with wings. The building abandons the traditional beam structure and combines the keel structure of shipbuilding with the unique dry-style building form in the south. The style is fresh and unique, and it can be called a landmark building in my country and the world. The entire building uses three floors above ground and one underground. The five arches contain the museum's display and office areas, with clear divisions. The largest ellipsoid in the middle is the "crystal palace", a home made for the sunken ship. The two arches on the right are the cultural relics exhibition hall, which mainly displays the cultural relics salvaged by the "South China Sea I", and the two arches on the left are the office area, where scientific research, inventory, equipment and logistics systems are located.
